Event Summary

FEVOURD-K, in collaboration with UNICEF, successfully organized a two-day Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Capacity Building Programme on 17th and 18th December, at Regenta Hotel, near Shivajinagara Bus Stand, Bengaluru. The programme brought together around 100 civil society organizations from across Karnataka, creating a strong platform for collective learning, dialogue, and collaboration.

The programme covered a wide range of critical themes, including disaster risk reduction and preparedness, climate change impacts, early warning and forecasting systems, hazard, risk and vulnerability analysis (HRVA), and community-based preparedness. Special focus was given to inclusive DRR, addressing gender, equity, and disability, along with key sectors such as WASH in emergencies, education and nutrition during crises, and the role of local governance institutions in disaster management planning.

Sessions also highlighted global and national frameworks such as the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, risk-informed programming, and principles of humanitarian leadership. Resource persons from UNICEF, government departments, and experienced practitioners shared practical field insights, making the discussions highly interactive and insightful.

The programme concluded with a collective plan of action for 2026, reinforcing the commitment of participating organizations to strengthen climate-resilient, inclusive, and disaster-prepared communities across Karnataka.
